Eleanor mentioned this at our last session- check out this link for cabbage juice pH indicator info.

This filtration system consists of shredded plastic bag to remove large particulate, active carbon filter, and UV LEDs to kill unwanted bacteria in the final step.

video of system doing its job.

3 water samples. Tap water for reference, Strawberry Creek water, and the filtered Strawberry Creek water. Note: the dark color of the filtered water is due to passage through the new carbon filter.

Cabbage was boiled and the juice was used to test the pH of various water samples.

The results were surprising. The tap water had no reaction to the cabbage juice. The Strawberry Creek water turned out to be very basic about 8 pH. The filtered creek water became even more basic, ending up a blue/green tint- a level of 10pH.
