Enourmous Plastic RainFlower

The sketch is an idea for a possible field condition of enormous plastic rain flowers. The flower petals are a surface constructed of deconstructed water bottles. The plastic petals interlock in an shingle fashion. Attached to a collection bulb, these petals funnel water into a removable filter. Filtered water moves from filter into bulb. The collection bulb is constructed of a flexible membrane (possibly plastic bag fabric) and is reinforced with intergraded cording. A secondary "cinch" cord wraps the collection bulb. As the bulb expands the "cinch" cord constricts cinching the water intake point ultimately closing the flower. Bottle top spouts attached to the bulb act as valves for water release. The released water may be consumed immediately. If stored in the bulb for an extended time, the water may continue in a secondary phase of filtration by attaching a smaller filtration system to the spout.

[RainDrops] Gutter Catchment System

This project by Yanko Design utilizes plastic bottles, mechanisms, and existing gutter catchment systems to harvest and filter rainwater from source to tap. The project design also discusses use of process called SODIS, which uses a combination of the suns UV rays and heat to remove pathogenic microorganisms that cause disease.
